Prima Ballerina Etoile of the Rome Opera House was born in Rome and was trained at the Opera School which at the time was under the direction of Attilia Radice.

After completing her training at the Opera School.
Diana went abroad to train under such famous teachers as Lepechinskaya, Streiner, Livtinov, Traianova, Hightower, Koliadenko, Besobrasova, Prebil, Pares, Popescu, Karleskaya.

During her very successful careered Diana danced in most of the leading roles of all the well known classical ballets:
Giselle, Papillon, La Silphide, La Fille Mal Gardée, Don Chisciotte, The Sleeping Beauty, as well as The Nutcraker, Swan Lake, Coppelia, Les Silphides, Paquita etc.
Other more recent masterpieces include: Carmen, Dama di Picche, Shéhérazade, Firebird, Cavallino Gobbo, Anna Karenina and Marco Spada.


She has also successfully performed in Balanchine's ballets: Apollon Musagète, Sinfonia in Do, Serenade, and Four temperaments.

Diana has received many awards as recognition for her very brilliant and intense career:
the "Davide di Donatello", the "Maschera d'argento", the "Premio Positano", the "Microfono d'argento",
the "Premio la Navicella".

Her most recent award bears the title "Commendatore al merito della Repubblica Italiana" (Commander of merit of the Italian Republic), awarded by the President of the Republic of Italy.

Diana Ferrara worked with many of the most esteemed choreographers in the world:
Roland Petit
, Aurelio M. Milloss, Jurij Grigorovich, Anton Dolin, Erik Bruhn, Pierre Lacotte, Dimitri Brianzev, Micha Van Hoecke, Jeorge Lefebre, Enrique Martinez, Attila Silvester, Alexander Schneider, Pieter Van der Sloot, Andrei Prokowski, Robert North, Eugheni Polyakov.

Since 1973 she has danced as "Guest Artist" in many important cities: Paris, Ciudad de Mexico, Madrid, Bucarest, Berlin, Stuttgart, Hannover, Munich, Bruxelles, Toronto, Montreal, Dakar, Edinburg, Hong Kong, Hamilton, Singapore, Bangkok, Bogotà, Caracas, etc.

She has performed leading roles with many world famous male dancers such as Vladimir Vassiliev in "Don Chisciotte", Rudolf Nureyev in "Giselle", Peter Shaufuss in "The Sleeping Beauty", Paolo Bortoluzzi in ''Swan Lake, Raffaele Paganini in "La Silphide" and Marco Spada, Ivan Liska in "Il Cavallino Gobbo", Waldemar Wolk Karaczewski in "Swan Lake" and Denis Ganio with whom she had one of her major successes dancing in Roland Petit's "Dama di Picche" and " Ma Pavlova" at the Rome Opera House.

In 1985 she founded her own ballet company
ASTRA ROMA BALLET
and for the dancers Diana has choreographed several new ballets: "Incontri a colori", Carnaval", "Un pallone color della luna", " Miracolo a Milano", "Scaramouche", "Ouverture", "Immaginando".

Most recently Diana has created ballets for several Italian operas: "Aida" for the Greek Theatre in Siracusa and the Bellini Theatre in Catania, "La forza del destino" for the Sferisterio in Macerata, ''Rigoletto" for the Roman Theatre in Cartagine Tunisia, "Il Flauto magico" for the Teatro Bellini of Catania.

She has also reproduced the famous classical ballets in their original or new versions.

Under Diana's direction the "Astra Roma Ballet" has an intensive schedule in Italy and abroad, in countries such as Canada, Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Guatemala, Panama, Spain, Syria and USA.




















In 1990 Diana is Coordinator of Ballet at the Rome Opera House.
In 1994-95 she is the Repertory Teacher at the National Academy of Dance in Rome.
From 1998 to 2000, beside her role of artistic Director of the Astra Roma Ballet, Diana is Maitre de Ballet and Choreographer at the Teatro Bellini of Catania.

In 2002 she creates the choreography for the theatre play “La memoria e il sogno” based on the voyage of Goethe in Italy for the Festival of Taormina.

In 2002-2003 she creates and conducts the TV broadcasting “Tutù e Scarpette”.

In 2003 has received in Rome in Campidoglio
Il Marforio d’oro” for her career.
In 2004 she is awarded the prize “David di Michelangelo” to the career, and in 2006 the prize “Roma è… Arte”.

Since 2007 she is a member of WDA Europe under the patronage of UNESCO.

In 2008 she creates the choreography “Serenata”, music by Luciano Bellini and voice of Nando Citarella

In 2010 she creates a piece in neoclassic style,
within the ballet “Aladino 2010”.

Nel 2011 “Les Suites et la Danse”on music by Bach e Telemann at Theatre Cucinelli, Solomeo (Perugia) performed with the orchestra, live, directed by Fabio Ciofini.

In 2019 Diana is awarded with the title Accademica AEREC for the dissemination of dance in the world.

Diana also creates the choreography of "I Tesori del Cuore" with live classical music performed in a world premiere at the teatro Quirino in Rome in December 2019.

She is frequently invited as President of Commissions for examinations, awards, masterclasses and stages.
